Charmed 2018 Review Episode 1

I’m sure we all remember the original Charmed tv series with Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige. P3, the power of three. It was a cult classic from 1998 to 2006. If it were ever to be remade, we would think and hope they would continue the Halliwell name with Piper and Phoebe’s children. Turns out to be completely wrong. The CW decided to completely remake it, giving the show the same title, but creating the characters with the Letter M. Mel, Macy, and Maggie. We knew that Prues powers were telekinesis and astral projection, Piper’s powers being molecular immobilization, combustion, and acceleration. Phoebe’s powers being Premonitions; Levitation; Empathy; Pathokinesis and Paige’s powers of telekinetic orbing, orbing, healing, and the ability to generate an Orb Shield because she was half whitelighter. But now we have Mel who has Molecular Immobilization like Piper did. It pretty much means to have the ability to slow down molecules to the point that they freeze. Macy has the power of telekinesis, which is a mix of Prue and Paige’s power, The ability to move objects with her mind. Then Maggie, with telepathy like Phoebe which is the ability to hear people’s thoughts. As you see in the trailer for the series, it shows that Maggie and Mel’s mother, Marisol dies of a tragic accident, then suddenly a girl shows up on their doorstep, which is Macy claiming to be their older sister. Marisol gave Macy up at birth, which we will find out why through out the season. Of course, we can’t forget about Leo, which was the girls whitelighter and Piper’s spouse. For this new Charmed, it’s Harry Greenwood, who also happens to be a professor at the university the girls go to, where there mom also used to work there as well. A few months after their mom’s death, Macy appears at their door claiming to be their older sister and shows them a photo of her as a baby with their mom. After the events with Macy, all the girls suddenly start developing their powers and start freaking out. Then all of a sudden, Harry appears, takes them to their house, ties them up in chairs as you’ve seen in the trailer, and tells them they are witches and they need to save the world and presents them with the Book of Shadows. He doesn’t exactly Orb like Leo did. He just snaps his fingers and his body just zig zags I guess you could say and disappears. He does have the ability to heal as well. The underworld finds out that the sisters retrieved their powers and their first demon comes to light and they successfully get rid of him. Then all of a sudden, another demon appears and tries to kill the girls and they successfully kill the demon they think that killed their mother, which happened to not be the right demon. At the end of the epiaode, Macy finds the Ouija board thinking they’ll be able to contact their mother. Their mothers words are three words they didn’t expext to see. The show was definitely interesting to watch and had few similarities, and if you look really close at the end, you’ll notice something huge that will raise a lot of questions. But in mine and many others opinions, it will never amount to the original. I’m definitely going to keep reviewing the show every Sunday night and see what everyone else’s opinions are going to be.
